October Finalist in the Raymar art Competition

January Finalist in the FineArtViews Painting Competition
March Finalist in the Raymar art Competition

This painting exudes light in a scene of bustling activity. Every carefully simplified figure has the feel of an individual, and not just a mere mass of indistinct figures. It has nicely balanced light as well as a unique balance of movement and interest throughout. The carefully controlled palette shows an artistic interpretation that allows the scene to be more than just a photographic representation - William Scott Jennings
December Finalist in the Raymar art Competition

Judge's Comments: I chose this painting because I commend the artist on simplifying a moving target. I've tried painting musicians before and it is really hard. This artist got the impression of witnessing a sketch from a real-life experience. Breaking the shapes down to the simplest form is what painting from life is all about. - Susan Lyon

February finalist in the Raymar art Competition
20th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
June 10 - July 9, 2011
Judge's Comments: I especially enjoyed this warmly lit interior scene with it’s strong reflected light. The strong linear perspective and clever placement of figures creates a well considered and constrained composition. The architectural and sculptural elements are handled beautifully as well. A beauty for sure. - Robert Lemler
